A Tiny Masterpiece Celebrating Big Friendships: The Singapore-Oman Joint Stamp Issue!

Singapore and Oman released a joint issue stamp on 21st February 2025. I recently came across the Singapore versio of this stamp which is definitely a magnificent piece of miniature art.

When Two Worlds Meet on a Stamp

Singapore and Oman officially shook hands in 1985 and the Singapore stamp depicts Muscat Street in Kampong Glam - a vibrant slice of Singapore where Omani influences whisper through the air. Named after Oman’s capital, this street is a living tribute to centuries of trade, cultural swaps, and serious diplomatic relationship.

The face value of the Singapore stamp is 2 SGD (Singapore Dollar).

Why Muscat Street? A Nod to Shared Roots

Back in the day, Omani traders were the key players in Singapore’s bustling port, leaving behind more than just spices—they wove their culture into the city’s fabric.

The stamp’s design blends Omani motifs with Singapore’s Peranakan flair.

Fun thought: Next time you mail a letter, imagine it flying from Singapore to Oman - just like those old trade ships, but way faster. 🚀

Oman Post has also issued a souvenir sheet to mark the occasion. The denomination of Omani souvenir sheet is 1 Omani Rial.

Oman - 150 Years of Universal Postal Union (UPU) 2024 #UPU150 #150UPU

What a pity! Oman did not issue a postage stamp for 150th Anniversary of UPU. Instead Sultanate of Oman has released a postcard with UPU150 design on "150 Years of UPU"; along with an official postmark on "150th Anniversary of UPU". I was expecting a beautiful odd-shaped stamp from Oman.

Oman Stamp on 150 Years of UPU - 2024

As per the announcement of Oman Post, this postmark was available for cancelling the letters from 9-12 October 2024 only. I am not sure whether it is still available or not???

Anyone having any updates, please share!

Oman Stamp on 150 Years of UPU - 2024

Let's hope that Oman still issues an actual postage stamp on "150 Years of UPU" before the end of 2024.

So what do you think about this UPU150 issue from Oman??

Oman - 150 Years of Universal Postal Union (UPU) 2024 #UPU150 #150UPU

Oman has issued some really fascinating stamps in the recent years. It was expected that Oman will issue a beautiful stamp or a set of stamps on "150th Anniversary of UPU" in 2024, but unfortunately Oman has only issued an official postcard and a special occasion postmark cancellation.

With almost 100 countries issuing stamps to mark "150 Years of UPU", Oman might decide to issue a stamp too.

Let's see if they decide to do so.
